Redispersible Polymer Powder (RDP) is a free-flowing, white to off-white fine powder produced by spray-drying a water-based polymer emulsion (typically Vinyl Acetate-Ethylene copolymer). When mixed with water in dry-mix mortars, it quickly redisperses to form a stable emulsion, and upon drying, it creates a flexible, durable polymer film within the matrix. This film significantly enhances the performance of cement-based and gypsum-based materials, making RDP an essential additive in modern construction for improving adhesion, flexibility, durability, and water resistance.
RDP transforms rigid, brittle mortars into more elastic, crack-resistant systems while maintaining excellent workability and compatibility with other additives.
Key Features & Advantages
- Superior Adhesion & Bonding — Forms strong polymer bridges for excellent tensile adhesion to various substrates (concrete, tiles, old surfaces), even under wet or challenging conditions.
- Enhanced Flexibility & Crack Resistance — Increases elasticity and deformability, reducing cracking, shrinkage, and brittleness in mortars.
- Improved Water Resistance — Creates a hydrophobic film that boosts waterproofing and long-term durability against moisture exposure.
- Better Workability & Anti-Sag — Provides smoother application, extended open time, and non-slump properties for vertical surfaces.
- High Impact & Abrasion Resistance — Strengthens surface hardness and toughness for wear-resistant finishes.
- Eco-Friendly & Low Emissions — Non-toxic, low-VOC, REACH-compliant, suitable for green building and indoor applications.
- Excellent Compatibility — Works seamlessly with cement, gypsum, HPMC, cellulose ethers, fillers, and other admixtures.
- Low Dosage Efficiency — Effective at 1–5% addition rate, offering great performance-to-cost value.
Typical Applications
- Tile Adhesives & Thin-Set Mortars — Improves slip resistance, open time, and bonding for ceramic, porcelain, and large-format tiles.
- Wall Putty / Skim Coat & Joint Compounds — Enhances smoothness, crack-bridging, and water resistance for interior/exterior leveling.
- Exterior Insulation & Finish Systems (EIFS/ETICS) — Provides flexibility, adhesion, and weather resistance in insulation renders.
- Self-Leveling Compounds & Repair Mortars — Improves flow, durability, and bonding in floor underlayments and structural repairs.
- Cement-Based Plasters & Renders — Boosts workability, sag resistance, and long-term performance for walls and facades.
